Desert Island is based around the phrase shēng rì kuài lè (生日快乐) or “happy birthday”. The pupils involved in creating this animation wrote their scripts based on the phrases they had learned while following the Radio Lingua One Minute Mandarin course over four weeks.
The pupils designed their characters and set and completed the animation in a two-day Radio Lingua Schools workshop. They used I Can Animate stop frame animation software and iMovie to create their movies and then recorded soundtracks using Garageband.

Well done to Annamaria, Brandon, Briony, Conan and Sean for your work on this animation. I particularly liked the way you created the crumbs when the characters ate the birthday cake! Good thinking.
